Photo caption "Lincoln slept here"
Abraham Lincoln spoke in the Methodist church in LaHarpe in 1858. A church pew and a large slab of marble that were in the church when he spoke are on display at the museum, along with other Lincoln artifacts. Close relatives of the man who later became president lived in LaHarpe and near-by in the village of Fountain Green. Many are buried in the LaHarpe cemetery and in a cemetery east of Fountain Green.
Information and photos provided by the Mayor of LaHarpe, Kenneth L. Brown.
